Actually, I was looking for help! But I'll put my two cents in. First, as I looked at the pics of the work spaces some brave souls were willing to share, I realized we're all a little nuts! We all surround ourselves with the stuff we love! So much so, we can't find our way out! I'll post some pics when I'm brave. Bless you for sharing - I don't feel so bad now! To try to be more organized I use those plastic school trays for assembling jewelry projects. I put a dish towel or one of those bead towels down to keep things from rolling around. This way I can get more designs started, keep things seperate and move them easily. I know it's not much of an "organizing idea", but it's the best I can do until I get some pictures.
My suggestion is to clean you damn bench,,, tehe. Oh nevermind, that was more of a note to myself. Anyone who is willing to put pics of their bench up is a brave soul for sure. But seriously, there are a few rules I live by in my shop that keep me sane. 1. I never have more than three projects going at the same time,, and I must get all three projects done before starting another. 2. Have a designated place for everything, I use tackle boxes and hardware boxes, and label them with some masking tape and a sharpie, I also have scrap baskets for various metals that get sent in every few months for credit. There is a place on my bench for projects i'm currently working on. I use a pegboard on the back of my bench for pliers and hammers. 3. Enforce your own rules after you have set them,,, this is the hardest part. Being organized will only last as long as the idea of being organized in your mind, think before you set somthing down. Well that's all I have, personally I'm still working on number 3 ;)
