About Me
The thing I love the most about making my jewery is seeing the light that comes into peoples eyes when they see my work. When they find that they can own their own piece of Sterling Lace it makes them happy. The thought that something I made could make someone feel beautiful, special or loved just makes my day!

I am a beginner with a dream. I would like to make Sterling Lace Creations into something that will help put my grandaughters through college. I Love to make my jump rings, my chains, working with the stones to make the pendants and now working with PMC to make all kinds of things. Sterling Lace is something that lets me do all the things I love, work with power tools, create, design, learn, organize, take photos, mess with web pages, and even use the accounting degree I earned years ago.
How many years have you been designing jewelry?
I just started last year. I got a simple kit from the hobby store and fell in love with it. As I was working on that first necklace all of these ideas kept flooding into my head and I knew I had to learn to make my own jump rings so that I could make more chains. I could do this one that way and that one this way and before I knew it I had planned out more necklaces than I could ever ware or give away so I decided (after a lot of butterflies and long talks with my husband) to design a webpage (its not quite ready yet but I am getting closer) and sell my necklaces.
What is your favorite jewelry website?
http://stores.ebay.com/sterling-lace-creations?refid=store
Did you go to school to learn jewelry design?
No. I am teaching myself from books and webpages.

That's awesome!! I'm going to do that one day but I want to practice with regular polymer clay and get some techniques perfected before I move on to the metal clay. Besides, I like doing something little then take the next step. I need the mental stimulation of going from one to another because if I just jump in to one it's not really fun enough for me. I had a good easter actually despite my migraine. (Idk if I ever told you but I get headaches like 3-5 times a week) I traded my bf's bass guitar for an electric for my nephew for his b-day in sept. and i saw my cousin who was in town from Florida, I sold a necklace to my mom to give to my aunt as a gift and then sold a necklace to my niece for her step mom so I took that profit and put it towards new supplies and am awaiting those as I work on stuff from my new stock of hemp supplies. And again, I'm doing all of this while managing a migraine! UH! It stinks! Well lady I'm going to get back to business. Talk to you soon.

Hey lady. I didn't get much pictures done for you today. I've been working on all my sites so when you make reference to me I have something good for people to check out. I created a whole new myspace page that is strictly jewelry and photos I've done. I also got some things put in my webstore and have my facebook and flickr accounts to update tomorrow. I also have some transcription to do tomorrow so I'll probably have to do your photos later tomorrow afternoon. I got some done but I don't want to send a little at a time. I'll message you on here when I send them though. Talk to you soon.

Hi!!! :)

Yes, Ebay can be difficult to sell jewelry, as you said. Considering the fact that there's so many people selling the mass produced items from overseas so cheaply.

I've started selling online only a couple of months ago, and had made a couple of sales. So far I'm not specialising on any target groups (bridal, childrens, etc.). My creations are what comes to my head at the time. Maybe in the near future I'll have my own signature style, but in the mean time, I'm playing with all sorts of styles.

As for custom orders, since I work from home, it's quite easy for me to do those, However I make sure the customer knows about how long it could take to finish a project and I email them daily on my progess. Plus I'm specific on what I will not do.

As for prices, the main problem that alot of people are doing is underselling their pieces. Doing that you will never make a profit, but you don't want to charge too much with this economy. At least until you have establish a name for yourself. I would say I spend at least 90% of my time promoting, networking and marketing and the other percent creating and designing. It's a bit of a challenging career to get into. But it does pay off in the long haul.

Hope you have a great day!

Blessed be,
Penny

Good looking store. Have you pondered the idea of listing your items in other venues? I use to have a store in EBay, but the listing fees were killing me. There's a couple of online marketplaces that strictly do Artisan Handmade work. I'm listed in Artfire and Artistry Arts. (I included links to my stores for you to see how it looks like) Artfire is okay, lot's of little "toys" and "widgets" to play around with. It cost $20.00 per month (I think they have a promo still for $7 per month) and all listings are included in the price. The Artistry Arts one is $3.00 per month and they guarantee they will never increase the price (all listings are included in the price, too). It doesn't have the toys and widgets like Artfire, but I ,myself, don't use that stuff anyways. The thing I like about these sites is that if you sell something, they don't take a piece of the cost like Ebay does. So you just need to worry about the cost taken from PayPal.

Hope that tidbit helps.

Penny

It's best to get your name out there. You're work is worthy of alot more attention.

Thank you for adding me to your friend list and for your kind comments about my creations. Your jewelry is very pretty, I love chainmaille, but I don't have the patience for all those little rings. LOL. Is your work listed somewhere for sale, would love to check it out.

Ahh I'm just tickled the settings worked out real well for you. Some cameras don't do too well no matter how you adjust them. I had a kodak that just didn't do it for me but I loved the size and feel of it and it was really disappointing to get rid of it. But I had to get a quality camera ya know? Oh I'm just so excited to see the pics. You still want me to crop out detail and paste it in right? Like I do with mine? That's no trouble at all. Sorry bout the eBay store. I try to sell stuff all the time and it's depressing when it doesn't sell and you really felt it would. I hope the two that are being watched sell for you. That'd be great! Well I can't wait to see the pics and get some more accomplished. Have a safe trip home and I'll talk to you again soon. Ciao!

The bar mold will only make ingots for wire, Candle soot will work well to carbonize the mold. The clear spots in the video ingot was flux trapped as the ingot cooled. They are caused by using too much flux and when it is poured the flux enters th…
